Doc Fossey Guitar for the 5-String Banjo Player
Doc Fossey Guitar for the 5-String Banjo Player
I've been an artist endorser and dealer since Doc Fossey began these around 2006. They are really fun to play and offer a great sound alternative to a 5-string banjo. Call me - Ross 866-322-6567. I enjoy talking banjos.
Here is a quick demo of the Doc Fossey Guitar Banjo which is a Guitar body with a 5-string neck and tuned like a Banjo. I had a student visiting from Australia and she took the video. She also took the Doc Fossey home, fell in love with it. She loved the tone and found it in her words "more forgiving". She was able to easily pull a pleasing smooth tone out of it right away.

Here is a video I did way back in 2006. I'm picking We Three Kings.
I hope you like it, I sure enjoyed playing it.
This is a song I made up that day that I didn't name. Now I need a name so I'm calling it "Wahoo".
I'm sorry, these are no longer being made and are not available.

Fantastic Guitar for Banjo players that want a Guitar Sound
0 of 0 people found the following review helpfulBanjo players will be able to achieve a Guitar sound with this instrument. I found out that D'addario makes Ball end Banjo Strings and they might work.
A very nice instrument, my favorite "guitanjo"
0 of 0 people found the following review helpfulI purchased mine from Ross several years ago. It still looks and plays very well, and has a pleasing sound with sustain. The finish and purfling detail (even on the back) is eye-catching. Its a welcome bridge between the banjo and guitar worlds- great for finger-picking, finger-style, and strumming. It is the instrument I prefer to use when I want to play something smooth and relaxing, but it has more than enough bite and punch for upbeat stuff too. The Doc Fossey opens up new world of musical possibilities that don't quite fit with a regular banjo (imagine "Dust in the wind", "Stairway to heaven", "Wish you were here", "Fire and rain") . Another funny thing; compared to my banjos, people don't seem to mind at all when I practice in the next room with this instrument (although it might just be my playing)... ;)
Review for Doc Fossey
0 of 0 people found the following review helpfulI am sure you get lots of accolades regarding your fantastic guitar, so here is mine too, the workmanship and quality is excellent, the inlay is beautiful, the tone is sweet…It is great to be able to play this guitar and not have to learn new guitar chords etc. The price for this type of quality guitar and good quality case is a true bargain!!!!. I am very pleased I bought this guitar untried and tested and going on the reputation and recommendation of Ross Nickerson!!.
The tone is fantastic
0 of 0 people found the following review helpfulHi Ross.....I am very impressed with the guitar it is very well made and the tone is fantastic, I particularly like the 4th string tone. I am still getting used to the quiet sound and weight of the guitar compared to my banjo. I am going to enjoy playing both instruments equally!!. I think I am sending Carole (wife, she who must be obeyed) mad because I am still playing my trumpet as well!!!!. Thank you once again for your excellent service, it is always a great pleasure doing business with you!!.
