The Gold Tone AC 5  is a perfect design to land this banjo in the "best beginner banjo prices" category with superior wood neck intonation and bright tone than any other banjo in it's price range. I remember the old harmony composite banjos from the 70's that had a surprising good tone. When a new student would arrive with one of the composite harmony banjos I was always relieved. The sounded so much better than the 30 bracket design Korean beginner banjos ((that are unfortunately still around like the Wasburn B-90). Ever notice how real banjo companies, banjos designed by people who play banjo like Gold Tone, Recording King, Deering, don't make those thin fret board 30 bracket banjos.

When I heard about bringing back this design I though oh good, but expected something like the 70's Harmony. Oops, not even close, these are way way better. They have a wood neck and the intonation is as spot on as the expensive bluegrass banjos I perform with. The body is of much higher quality too and the tone was great. I mean that too. This is a great banjo and a lot of banjo for the cost. The pictures don't really do it justice. I recommend them or I wouldn't carry them.
