Gold Tone CC-50RP Beginner Banjo With Planetary Tuners

The Gold Tone popular CC-50 has been the openback banjo of choice for thousands of beginning players for many years. The CC-50RP adds a full-walled resonator and high quality planetary-gear tuning machines to offer a value-packed first Bluegrass banjo for thousands more. Great sound emanates from the hard rock maple rim topped with a brass rod tone ring. The flangeless CC-50RP converts easily to an openback banjo for exploring clawhammer or folk style playing; just pop off the resonator and mounting brackets and you're done. Deluxe touches include a rosewood fretboard, Terminator tailpiece and a geared fifth-string tuning peg. Gold Tone's expert factory setup assures great playability sound right from the start.

Great beginning instrument and great customer service

I ordered a different banjo and received a call from the company very quickly to let me know that it wouldn't be available for a long time and offered other models that are better quality. I held off for a bit and then ordered the CC-50RP. It arrived quickly and in very good condition. I'm a lefty and it's nice that this company offers lefty banjos. The only suggestion I have is to make sure a left handed thumb pick gets put in the beginner package (instead of a right handed one) with a left handed banjo.

Thank you so much for helping me purchase my first banjo. It just arrived. I called my 4-yr old grandson to come check out this beautiful banjo. Everything went fine, looks fine. I had to tune it a bit. Haven't used the thumb picks yet, not until I get adjusted. I posted a couple pics, and my first attempt at holding and picking on Facebook. With your help with your instructions & videos, and tabs, I know I'll get better. This was a first time effort. You definitely have the best deal, and I greatly appreciate everything.
The important thing for me is to just have fun. I will spend many hours learning. It is an easy banjo to play, as the neck is thin and smooth. It is light, made of good materials. You even installed the "Zero Glide Nut". It makes the first fret easier, and sounds great. This banjo will one day pass along to my family. With 7 grandkids, one will enjoy this banjo too.
